The right glue gun can transform your crafting experience

Types of Glue Guns
There is a wide range of glue gun types. Before I give my favorites, I will let you know about them all, so you know your choices.
- Hot Glue Guns – This is the most common type of glue gun. They are commonly known as High Temperature glue guns. These get very hot, making them great for stronger bonds needed on materials like wood, metal, or plastic. They can handle tougher tasks but require caution due to the higher heat. Burning your fingers is a real thing and has happened to me more than I want to admit.

- Low Temp Glue Guns – These glue guns heat up to a lower temperature, making them great for delicate materials like ribbons, lace, or floral arrangements. They are safer for kids or beginners because they reduce the risk of burns.
- Dual Temp Glue Guns– As the name suggests, these glue guns offer two temperature settings (low and high), giving you flexibility depending on the material you’re working with. You can switch between the two setting. Because of this option, these glue guns normally cost a bit extra.
- Full Size Glue Guns – These are considered normal size for adults. They take full size glue sticks which are the bigger ones.
- Mini Size Glue Guns – Smaller in size and using mini glue sticks, these glue guns are perfect for small projects and smaller hands. These are easy to handle, but may not be as powerful as the full-sized versions.
- Industrial Glue Guns – These are heavy-duty glue guns designed for large-scale projects or professional DIY’ers. They are often used for construction or factory work. These are the kind of glue guns you find in garage projects.
- Precision Tip Glue Guns – These glue guns come with a fine, pointed nozzle that allows for more control and precision when applying glue. They are great for detailed or intricate projects like jewelry making or model building.
My Favorites
Curious about which brands made the cut? Check out my tried-and-true favorites that I absolutely love.
Adtech Craft and DIY High Temp Glue Gun (40 watts)
This is my favorite. To me, it’s one of the best hot glue guns out there. I’ve had mine now for almost 10 years and it has lasted wonderfully. It has a kick stand so you can sit it upright on your tabletop.

It’s funny because I drop it all the time. I’ve left on overnight many, many times. You would think that would make it stop working. Nope. It sticks with me and works great every time.
This bad boy gets Hot Hot! For some projects though, that very hot temperature is needed. I would not recommend this glue gun for the babies though.
It will leak a drop of glue here or there, but if that’s all it does after 10 years I’m ok with it.
Get your own HERE. Price: $6 – $20 depending on the store. (They run a 30% off coupon regularly as well)
USB Rechargeable Cordless Glue Gun
This is one of the best hot glue guns because it’s so convenient. It comes with a usb charger and you can charge it just like we charge everything else electronic. When it is fully charged, you can disconnect and take the glue gun with you with no cords.

It takes about 30-40 minutes to charge to full strength then you get the convenience of being able to move around. You get about 30 minutes of heat out of it before you have to recharge. So if it is a long project, this might not be the right option.
I plug mine in the night before I know I want to craft and it’s ready for me when I start my project.
These come in all kind of cool colors and shapes. They even have cordless glue guns that you can use with your power tools charger like Black & Decker and Ryobi.
Get this exact one I tried and loved. Get one for yourself HERE. Price: $20 – $25 dollars
Adtech Basic Low Temp Mini Glue Gun
Above, I talked about my favorite hot glue gun. That one gets extremely hot, so here’s an alternative one for kids or smaller projects.

This mini, low temp glue gun is a great basic option. I take this one with me to craft workshops if the craft project calls for a little glue here or there.
You don’t have to worry about burning your fingers or making a big investment, because these are relatively inexpensive.
Make sure to buy a name brand when buying a mini glue gun. Don’t just buy one from the dollar store. They are cheap in price and quality. “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” LOL
You can get this one HERE. Price: $5-$8
Surebonder Fine/Detail Tip Glue Gun 60 watts
Not only can you customize the size and temp of glue guns, you can also customize the tip and how much glue comes out.

This is a fine tip or precision tip glue gun, and this one from Surebonder is a beast. It’s 60 watts, which is a lot of power for a glue gun. The tool has a rugged exterior, which helps it withstand being dropped or roughly handled. It also comes with a power light, so no more guessing if you glue gun is ready or not.
Precision tips give you the ability to apply small amounts of glue in detailed areas. I do some projects that I don’t want glue showing or just need a thin line of glue. That’s when the precision glue guns are perfect.
You can get one of your own HERE. Price $15-$20
