The Majority of Creative People Do This Everyday

Carpe Diem!!!

A lot of creative people I know can find creativity and beauty in everything.  It’s part of having a creative mind.  Anything can be an inspiration: flowers, buildings, smiles, songs, etc.  Once you open your mind to the possibilities, inspiration can come from all over.  So join the majority of creative people and Carpe Diem or Seize the “Creative” Day!

Use Your Creative Mind in All Scenarios

Two of my friends and I were out to dinner celebrating my birthday (Shout out to all the Taurus people).  We went to one of my favorite Italian restaurants called Buca di Beppo.  If you’ve been you know the portions are very large, so of course, we all got a to-go container for the leftovers.  Both my friends quickly wrote their names on their box and I proceeded to draw a whole doodle.  For about five minutes I was lost in this cutesy doodle I was creating around my name.  My friend started laughing and said, “Angie, everything you do is creative.”  I finally looked up and noticed I was the only one being a Picasso.  I said one little line that I will always remember from now on…

Every moment is an opportunity for creativity!

It was one of those profound moments you have in the midst of plenty of laughter that makes you stop and and say Hmm.  This one little line sorta became a running theme for the night, as my girlfriends started pointing out every little instance that someone could use their creative mind.  The pictures on the wall turned into, “Oh we can do that.”  The waiter’s name turned into some funny nickname.  Someone even suggested to push all the buttons on the elevator to “be creative.”

Ok, so it can get a little silly, but creativity should be fun.  There are no limits.  Well there are laws and common decency, and things to consider so others don’t point and stare…but you know what I mean 🙂 Flex that creative mind a little.

Creative Mind Exercise

If you want to have a creative mind, you have to work that muscle like any other muscle.

Seek out opportunities to grow your creative mind.  Seize each opportunity.  Right now is your opportunity.  Here’s your “to-go” container.  Picture it…Sicily…1927…Just kidding.  Ignore my quirky Golden Girls humor.

Ok, seriously, your assignment is to stop right now, give yourself 2 minutes, use your create mind and just doodle.  Anywhere about anything.  Draw whatever you heart desires.  Add flowers to your to-do list.  Draw funny faces on a note for the kids.  That thing you’ve been wanting to buy, draw a picture of it.  Remember the possibilities are endless.

Are you drawing yet?  I’ll wait…
