Start your DIY Wreath
First take your metal wreath frame and cover it with ribbon. The frame is useful but not all that pretty. LOL Start buy hot gluing the end of the ribbon to the frame, then just wrap the ribbon tightly around the entire frame, overlapping a bit of the previous row each time. Secure the end of the ribbon on the back with hot glue.
Add the Flowers
Now it’s time to apply the flowers. Take one flower stem and bend the bottom to the curve of the wreath. It should move pretty easily because most Dollar Tree Flowers have wire in them.
Once it’s shaped to your liking, apply some hot glue to the back side of the flower stalk and immediately place it down on your ribbon covered wreath form.
Next, grab another flower bunch and repeat the same bending technique as before. Then layer the second flower bunch just below the first one, totally covering the green stalk. Add hot glue to the back side again and lay the second one down.
Repeat this process again and again until you have completed the circle on your wreath. Go back and add hot glue to any spots that don’t feel secure.
Create the Bow loops
The next step is to add a pretty bow. This is just one of many ways to make a bow. This method is pretty quick and simple.
You need 3 different types of ribbon, preferably different widths. I also like to use wired ribbon. It holds the shape better.
Lay your widest ribbon face first and measure out about 12 inches. Lay the next two ribbons on top of that. Cut them to the same length.
Fold both each ends into the center, creating the bow loops. be sure to overlap the ends a bit, then set the whole piece aside.
Make the bow tails
To make the bow’s tails, cut one or two of the ribbons another 12 inches. Layer them on top of each other like before. To add a little extra cuteness, fold the ribbon in half length wise and cut each end at an angle. Once you flatten it back out, the bow tails will have a cute finished design on the end.
Lastly, attach the bow loops to the bow tails. Place the center of the tail ribbon behind the center of the loops. Attach both pieces together with a small twisty tie or pipe cleaner. Leave the ends of the pipe cleaner long and open for later.
Once everything is secure, pull the tails to the front to form the bow shape. Add a rhinestone, pearl or another piece of ribbon to the center to cover the twisty tie. Voila, You have a bow for your wreath.
Attach your new DIY Bow
Attach the bow to your wreath by tying the rest of twisty tie to the flowers on the wreath. You can also hot glue it in place.
