Invest in the right crafting tools

If you don’t know, I’m passionate about helping others tap into their own creativity and to do that, you need to invest in the right crafting tools.

I’ve made several lists to help you like a list of the 4 best glue guns, some of my favorite gadgets in my craft room, and my favorite sewing machine. Check them out.

On this post, I’ve compiled a list of the best craft scissors. Trust me, you need them. You will want them. Just go ahead and add to cart, LOL.

Let me hip you to the BEST craft scissors

You are probably here because you’ve been wondering, “what are the best scissors?” Well, I got you!

First off: All Purpose Scissors

These are just regular everyday scissors you can get from anywhere. All purpose scissors are not super fancy, not super sharp, but get the job done for basic needs. These are the scissors that people keep in that junk drawer in the kitchen, or that you find under your kids bed.

I buy these in bulk and use them in my craft classes. They work for a variety of projects.

You can literally buy these anywhere but here’s a good set for a good price. You will want multiple ones, because these tend to walk off.

Second: Fabric Scissors

If you are doing anything with fabric you need, FABRIC SCISSORS! Please don’t use those all purpose scissors to cut your delicate fabrics. It will ruin it.

Fabric Scissors should be very sharp and precise. Listen, I don’t play about my fabric scissors. I bet not see someone using my fabric scissors for a school project or in the garage! I label my scissors for that whole reason.

So the best brand of scissors for sewing is Fiskars. It’s a household name and will last throughout the years. Here’s my suggestion for the best scissors for sewing:

Fiskars 8″ Original Orange-Handled Stainless Steel Scissors

If you are sewing alot, you really need several different fabric scissors because different scissors cut different type of fabrics. I would suggest taking a look at the entire Fiskars brand and grab a couple of them for your sewing needs.

Third: Decorative Scissors

For all my paper crafters out there: you need some fun decorative scissors. These are the die cut scissors that live pretty borders on your paper. They come in a variety of styles so I would suggest starting with at least 4.

I would say, these are the most fun scissors for papercrafting. Your paper projects get an immediate upgrade.

Here’s another secret, if you are anything like me and cant cut straight to save your life, these decorative papercrating scissors help hide imperfections. Yippee!

I recommend This Bundle.

Fourth: Precision Scissors

Precision Cut Scissors are so useful in lots of different crafting projects. They are small, extremely sharp scissors that get close and cut with high accuracy.

And when I say sharp, I mean SHARP SHARP.

These are the best craft scissors for small detail projects. I use them while making jewelry, so I can cut very close to knots I make. They are also great precision scissors while sewing to snip threads and raveling. I’ve seen people even use these scissors to cut herbs and trim plants.

The best precision cut scissors are from a brand called Cutter Bee. I’ve had mine for a very long time and they are still very sharp.

They come with a cap to keep you from hurting yourself. Have I expressed how sharp they are?

Fifth: Rotary Cutter

Honestly, my sewing projects became so much more efficient when I got a rotary blade cutter.

It’s basically a wand with a sharp, round blade that cuts as you roll. You can stack several layers of fabric up and cut them all at one time.

Though this is not “technically” a scissor, I would absolutely recommend it as one of the best scissors for sewing! The Fiskars brand has one that is great. I personally use the one from Cricut. Don’t think about it, just get it. I promise, it’s sooooo much better than using basic scissors.

Sixth: Paper Cutter

Lastly, I think every crafter needs a good paper cutter. I personally prefer the big guillotine style cutting boards, but there are lots of other types to choose from.

When choosing a paper cutter, just make sure your paper cutter has a ruler, a grid for lining things up, and a sharp blade.

I personally have the Swingline brand and love it. It’s lightweight, precise and cuts about 6 pages of regular paper at a time and about 4 pages of cardstock. You can get it HERE.
