4 Easy No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating Ideas
Fall Decorations
Fall means a changing of the guard, and changing the decorations in your home or office. During fall, it’s time to switch to warmer colors like orange, red, brown and dark greens. You can also incorporate more blankets and throws and accessories with fluffy and soft materials. Ultimately, I think you can’t have fall decor without pumpkins. This year, why not try a no-carve pumpkin decorating idea? I’ll walk you through it step by step.
Not Your Ordinary Pumpkin
Decorating with pumpkins doesn’t have to be hard or messy. I had to learn this myself. Growing up, my parents took us to get a real pumpkin every year. We would have a carving night where Mom would cover the table in newspaper and everyone would draw a design on their pumpkin. My dad, who was an engineer, meticulously cut out everyone’s designs until we were old enough to handle a knife ourselves. Then we would gut the pumpkins, roast the pumpkin seeds for a snack and display our pumpkins on the fireplace with a candle inside. Those are some good memories, but now as I think back it was SO MESSY.
See, when I was a kid, I never did the clean up, I never had to wash the pumpkin seeds off, I never had to worry about throwing the rotten pumpkin away at the end of the season. I just had fun. Now as an adult, it doesn’t sound as fun, I’m sorry. LOL That’s why No-Carve Pumpkins are such a great alternative. There’s plenty of variety and creative ideas you can do now with these decorative accents.
What are No-Carve Pumpkins?
No-Carve Pumpkins are decorative elements in the shape of pumpkins, but are made out of styrofoam and are lightweight. You can paint them, bedazzle them, decor them…really the possibilities are endless. They come in a variety of colors and sizes. The ultimate benefit is that you can use the same pumpkins over and over again each year. No mess, no waste!
I’ve created 4 easy no-carve pumpkin ideas that are fun and cost effective to make. Hopefully there’s something for everyone’s decor aesthetic. Also, just to make it easier for you, I’ve included a How-To Video for each pumpkin. I really want you to try these no-carve pumpkin ideas, can you tell?

This pumpkin will give a classic pumpkin feel with a traditional fall color scheme. Dress this pumpkin up with wired ribbon, decorative leaves and a bow. Also, I bought all the supplies here from the Dollar Tree for a total of $3. You can’t beat that! My brother-in-law said, “I don’t know why a pumpkin needs a sweater, but it’s looking good.” LOL. You can find the step by step instructions here, or watch the How-To Tutorial below.
Idea #2 – Modern Pumpkin
The second no-carve pumpkin decorating idea is Modern. This project caters to the Boho Chic decorating trend that is so popular now. I even redid my entire basement in this Black and White boho chic designs.
Use this pumpkin as a quick update to any room. It’s abstract and will get your creative juices flowing. For this project, all you need is a Sharpie marker and ribbon. I LOVE bling, really anything that sparkles, but I do understand that it’s not for everyone. But for those that like a little bling (or maybe a lot) this DIY is perfect for you. For this project you need an assortment of rhinestones, ribbon, Gloss spray paint, adhesive diamond mesh and hot glue. Once again, a lot of these products can be found inexpensively at the Dollar Tree. Watch the video below for all the steps. Be careful though, you might just become part of the bling team! LOL
