Women’s Group Icebreaker Game – Reclaiming my time

We all need a good Icebreaker

I created a Women’s group Icebreaker Game because about once a month I get called on to do an icebreaker game for various women’s groups and organizations.

If you’ve had the pleasure of doing an icebreaker, you know there’s a pressure to make it fun and interactive.  We scour Pinterest and Google for just the right icebreaker.  That might be what brought you to this page today.

So I decided to create some new icebreakers and I’m sure this is the first with more to come.  It was fun for our women’s group.

Icebreakers with Meaning

Recently, my church had a great women’s conference and the theme was “Reclaiming my time.”  The devil uses tactics to still our joy, peace, happiness, etc. and it’s time to reclaim everything that he’s stolen from us (Read my encouraging blog post all about how to reclaim what the devil has stolen from you).

I was asked to help do the icebreaker for the conference and I really wanted to do one that was related to the theme.  Here’s what I came up with.

Icebreaker Game for Women

The purpose of a women’s icebreaker game is to get ladies to work together and involved in a group activity. This particular game is to encourage women to research what the bible says about “reclaiming our time.”  Specifically, it focuses on reclaiming our peace, joy, faith and love.

Reclaiming MY time – The Icebreaker Game

Objective: For each group to “reclaim their time” on the clock prop.   The goal is to start at 12:00 and work counterclockwise by completing questions and activities given by the game proctor. The first group to make it back to 12:00 wins.

Supplies:

  • Clock Prop
      • Poster board
      • Copy paper
      • Glue
      • Brass fasteners
      • Markers
  • Set of activities
  • Tape
  • Paper Hearts
  • Some type of prize for the winning group (we did candy)

How to play the Icebreaker game:

  • Split the group up into equal teams.  I did 6 six groups.  You will need a Clock Prop for each group.
  • All clocks start at 12:00 (It doesn’t matter if you call it AM or PM)  The 12:00 activity should already be on the poster board, folded in half so no one can see.
  • The teams will be working counterclockwise with a goal to make it back around to 12:00 first.  There are activities at 9:00, 6:00, and 3:00.  They can only have the next activity until they’ve completed the previous one. (It’s a good idea to already have the clues laid out and ready to hand out with a piece of tape so they can place it on their board)
  • When you are ready, tell each team to begin by opening the 12:00 activity.
  • When they are complete they must yell “Reclaiming my time” to get the next activity.  The game proctor must check to see if they got the right answers then give them the next activity.  This is the fun part.  The teams will really start hustling to get finished when they hear other teams yelling the phrase.
  • The last activity at 3:00 is to hand out hearts.  Make sure to pass out enough hearts for each member in the team when you give them that activity.
  • The first team to complete all the tasks correctly wins.

Game Emphasis:

To make sure that the message of the game gets emphasized, go through the answers for each activity for the teams that didn’t get to finish.  Read the scriptures and drive home the great message that God will restore our peace, joy, faith, and love.

Game Tips:

  • The hearts for the last activity could be stickers, candy hearts or paper hearts.  Just something to show love to another lady.
  • Walk around the groups and encourage everyone to get involved.  Make sure everyone is having an opportunity to participate
  • The game proctor should be fun and keep the game going.  Tell jokes.  Egg on the competition.  Take candid pictures.
  • Really double check the answers.  When we did the ice breaker, the team that won answered the questions with a bible verse from a different translation.  The instructions say King James Version.  Low and behold another team called them on it and demanded a “recount” 🙂 It fueled some fun banter about them being cheaters.  LOL
  • Take a picture with the winning group for memories to come.

I pray that each lady is encouraged by this women’s icebreaker game.  I’d love to see your pictures and hear your stories about how this worked in your group.  Post them below.  I just love the pictures.
